Realize the importance of great content: Of course, you can do as much as you want to filter visitors toward your site, but if you do not have great content, you will A) fail to get people to stick around on your site and B) fail to get people to share your site with others (which is a huge part of succeeding online); take the time and make the effort to create genuinely good content, and you will be rewarded with genuine results.
Realize the importance of your sales funnel: When you create a sale on your website, this should never be the end of the road; instead, you need to make sure that each sale leads to other sales down the road! Take the time to set up a good sales funnel - one that is going to appropriately lead visitors to your site toward initial sales, and will then lead them from these initial sales to other products or services that will cause them to make more purchases down the road!
Realize the value of targeting something you know: One of the biggest mistakes people make when trying to generate income online is targeting something that "makes good money," rather than targeting something they actually know; when you target something you know - or something you are willing to learn about and care about - you are ultimately going to have a much easier path to success than if you were to simply target whatever random niche you heard was "good for making money"!
